Nikita Shamgunov

Nikita Shamgunov is a database infrastructure engineer and entrepreneur who currently serves as a VP at Databricks following its acquisition of Neon, the serverless Postgres platform he co-founded and led as CEO. He previously co-founded SingleStore, where he wrote the first line of code and scaled the company to over $100 million in revenue, and held engineering roles at Microsoft and Facebook. He is best known for architecting database platforms optimized for developer and AI agent workflows, including sub-second instance spin-up and database branching capabilities. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from ITMO University and is also a partner at Khosla Ventures.
