Erik Spiekermann is a German typographer, type designer, and information architect who founded MetaDesign in 1979 and FontShop in 1989. He is best known for designing the typeface FF Meta, widely regarded as a modern classic of digital typography, as well as ITC Officina and numerous corporate typeface families for clients including Deutsche Bahn, Bosch, and Nokia. He is the founder of Edenspiekermann and currently runs Hacking Gutenberg, an experimental letterpress workshop in Berlin. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of the Arts Berlin and an honorary professor at the University of the Arts Bremen.
