Jan Peters is a full professor for Intelligent Autonomous Systems at the Computer Science Department of TU Darmstadt and head of the Systems AI for Robot Learning department at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). He is best known for his pioneering research in machine learning for robotics, particularly reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and policy search methods for motor skill acquisition in humanoid robots. His work on biologically-inspired movement generation and dynamic movement primitives has been widely influential in the field of autonomous robot control.
