Toyota Research Institute (TRI) is Toyota's wholly-owned AI and advanced technology research institute, founded in 2016, focused on advancing robotics, human-centered AI, autonomous driving, machine learning, and energy and materials discovery. It operates as an internal R&D arm serving Toyota Motor Corporation, with the mission of improving the human condition through new tools and capabilities, and runs one of the largest automotive-industry university research collaboration programs in the world.
