Byron Boots is the Amazon Professor of Machine Learning in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, where he directs the UW Robot Learning Laboratory. He is also a Principal Research Scientist in the Seattle Robotics Lab at NVIDIA Research and the co-founder and CEO of Overland AI. His research focuses on integrating perception, learning, and control in robotics, spanning areas such as computer vision, state estimation, motion planning, and reinforcement learning. He received his Ph.D. from the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University under the advisement of Geoffrey J. Gordon.
