Boyuan Chen is the Dickinson Family Assistant Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Duke University, where he directs the General Robotics Lab. He holds joint appointments in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science. His research focuses on developing general-purpose robots with self-modeling and cognitive capabilities, spanning robotics, machine perception, and human-AI teaming. He earned his Ph.D. in computer science from Columbia University in 2022 under the supervision of Hod Lipson.
