Jiayuan Mao

Jiayuan Mao is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania and a primary faculty member of the GRASP Laboratory. She completed her PhD at MIT under the supervision of Joshua Tenenbaum and Leslie Kaelbling, with a dissertation on learning, reasoning, and planning with neuro-symbolic concepts. Her research focuses on building machines that continually acquire concepts from experience and use them for reasoning and planning in physical environments, spanning visual reasoning, robotic manipulation, and neuro-symbolic AI.
