Matt Ridley

Matt Ridley is a British science writer, journalist, and author of over a dozen books on evolution, genetics, innovation, and society. He serves as a weekly columnist for The Times and writes regularly for publications including The Spectator and The Wall Street Journal. He is best known for books such as The Rational Optimist, Genome, and How Innovation Works, and more recently co-authored Viral: The Search for the Origin of Covid-19 with Alina Chan. He served as a Conservative hereditary peer in the House of Lords from 2013 to 2021 and is a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Literature and the Academy of Medical Sciences.
