Andrew Tulloch

Andrew Tulloch is an Australian AI researcher and engineer who studied mathematics at the University of Sydney and the University of Cambridge. He spent over eleven years at Meta working on machine learning systems, then joined OpenAI in 2023 where he contributed to the training of GPT-4o, GPT-4.5, and o3. He co-founded Thinking Machines Lab in 2025 alongside former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, briefly returned to Meta's TBD lab, and is now joining Anthropic to work on inference and performance. He is best known for his expertise in large-scale ML systems and for being the subject of a reported $1.5 billion compensation offer from Meta.
