Carine Smith Ihenacho

Carine Smith Ihenacho is the Chief Governance and Compliance Officer at Norges Bank Investment Management, the manager of Norway's sovereign wealth fund. She joined NBIM in 2017 as Global Head of Ownership Strategies and was promoted to Chief Corporate Governance Officer in January 2018, then to her current role in October 2020. She is best known for building the fund's active ownership and responsible investment function into one of the most influential in the global investor community, overseeing governance, compliance, legal, tax, and operational risk activities. She announced her departure from NBIM in 2026 after nine years at the fund.
