Sunita Rathore

Sunita Rathore is a 43-year-old plastic waste-sorting worker in Karan Vihar, a recycling colony on the western fringe of New Delhi, India. She earns approximately 20,000 rupees ($211) per month sorting and cleaning discarded plastic, and supplements her income by wearing an iPhone strapped to her head to record first-person footage of her hands performing sorting tasks. This footage is collected for AI and robotics companies to train robots, earning her an additional 150 rupees per hour, though she has no understanding of what the recordings are used for.
