Holden Karnofsky

Holden Karnofsky is a member of the technical staff at Anthropic, where he works on responsible scaling policies and AI safety planning. He co-founded the charity evaluator GiveWell with Elie Hassenfeld in 2007 and co-founded the grantmaking organization Open Philanthropy, now called Coefficient Giving, where he served as CEO and later co-CEO until 2023. He is best known for his work in evidence-based charity evaluation and philanthropic funding of AI risk reduction and biosecurity. He is married to Daniela Amodei, president of Anthropic.
