Byron Cook

Byron Cook is a Vice President and Distinguished Scientist at Amazon Web Services, where he leads the automated reasoning group responsible for mathematically proving the correctness of AWS infrastructure components including cryptography, virtualization, storage, and authorization systems. He has been at Amazon for over a decade applying formal methods and proof tools to secure cloud infrastructure at scale. He is best known for his work applying automated reasoning and formal verification techniques to real-world distributed systems and, more recently, to agentic AI systems.
