Sanjay Ghemawat is a Senior Fellow at Google in the Systems Infrastructure Group, where he has worked since 1999. He is best known for his foundational contributions to large-scale distributed systems, including the Google File System, MapReduce, Bigtable, and Spanner, much of this work done in close collaboration with Jeff Dean. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2009 and received the ACM Prize in Computing in 2012.
