Zih-Yun Chiu

Zih-Yun "Sarah" Chiu is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University and a member of the Johns Hopkins Data Science and AI Institute. Her research focuses on developing intelligent robots for medical applications, with particular expertise in surgical robotics, reinforcement learning, and embodied AI. She is known for her work on bimanual regrasping of suture needles using reinforcement learning for rapid motion planning, conducted during her doctoral studies at UC San Diego under the advisement of Professor Michael Yip.
