Xiang Bai

Xiang Bai is a professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where he leads the Vision and Learning Representation Group. He is an IEEE and IAPR Fellow recognized for his work in computer vision, pattern recognition, and deep learning, with notable contributions including the DOTA dataset for aerial image object detection, scene text detection methods using differentiable binarization, and the OCRBench evaluation for large multimodal models. He has published more than 250 papers and serves as an associate editor for journals including Pattern Recognition and Pattern Recognition Letters.
