Michael I. Jordan

Michael I. Jordan is the Pehong Chen Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and the Department of Statistics at UC Berkeley, where he is currently an Emeritus Professor. He is also a Senior Researcher at INRIA in Paris, where he heads the Markets and Machine Learning chair, and a Distinguished Amazon Scholar. He is best known for his foundational contributions to machine learning, including variational inference methods, distributed computing algorithms, and the mathematical frameworks underpinning recommender systems and generative AI.
