Yann LeCun

Yann LeCun is a French-American computer scientist and the Jacob T. Schwartz Professor of Computer Science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. He served as Chief AI Scientist at Meta Platforms, where he founded and led the company's AI research laboratory known as FAIR starting in 2013, before co-founding Advanced Machine Intelligence Labs in December 2025. He is best known for his foundational work in deep learning, particularly the development of convolutional neural networks for computer vision and optical character recognition. He was a co-recipient of the 2018 Turing Award for his contributions to the field.
