John Kenneth Galbraith

John Kenneth Galbraith (1908–2006) was a Canadian-American economist, Harvard professor, and public servant who served as U.S. Ambassador to India under President Kennedy. He is best known for his trilogy on American capitalism—The Affluent Society (1958), The New Industrial State (1967), and Economics and the Public Purpose (1973)—and for A Short History of Financial Euphoria (1990), which analyzes speculative bubbles and their recurrence throughout financial history. He leaned toward post-Keynesian economics from an institutionalist perspective and was a prolific author of more than 30 books.
