Rachel Glennerster

Rachel Glennerster is a British economist who serves as president of the Center for Global Development, having assumed the role in September 2024. She previously served as chief economist at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and as executive director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab at MIT. She is best known for pioneering the use of randomized trials in development economics and for co-authoring work on Advance Market Commitments with Michael Kremer, including the book Strong Medicine: Creating Incentives for Pharmaceutical Research on Neglected Diseases.
