David Scott Krueger

David Scott Krueger is an assistant professor in Robust, Reasoning, and Responsible AI at the University of Montreal and a core academic member at Mila, the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute. He holds a CIFAR AI Chair and focuses his research on reducing societal-scale risks from AI, including existential risk and AI alignment. He is known for initiating the 2023 CAIS Statement on AI Risk, which was signed by prominent AI leaders, and for co-founding the UK AI Security Institute as a research director in 2023. In 2025, he founded Evitable, a nonprofit advocating for an AI moratorium.
