Carissa Véliz

Carissa Véliz is an Associate Professor in Philosophy at the University of Oxford's Institute for Ethics in AI and a Tutorial Fellow at Hertford College. She is best known for her research on privacy, surveillance, and AI ethics, and is the author of Privacy Is Power (2020), which was named an Economist Book of the Year, and The Ethics of Privacy and Surveillance (Oxford University Press, 2024). She advises policymakers worldwide, including the UK Parliament, the US Congress, and the European Commission, on privacy and the ethics of AI.
