Ajay Mandlekar

Ajay Mandlekar is a Staff Research Scientist at NVIDIA AI in the GEAR lab, where he leads simulation-based research focused on making simulation a scalable method for training humanoid foundation models. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (2016–2022), advised by Silvio Savarese and Fei-Fei Li. He is best known for creating widely used robotics simulation and data generation frameworks including MimicGen, robomimic, and robosuite, and his research encompasses synthetic data generation, real-to-sim and sim-to-real transfer, and imitation and reinforcement learning in simulation.
