Gavin Uberti

Gavin Uberti is the co-founder and CEO of Etched, a startup building application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) designed for the Transformer architecture used in generative AI. He previously worked as a software engineer at OctoML, where he wrote matmul kernels for the Apache TVM compiler, and dropped out of Harvard University, where he was pursuing a Bachelor's degree in math and a Master's in computer science. He is best known for co-designing a chip called Sohu, which is specialized for transformer-based matrix math calculations and claims significantly higher throughput than general-purpose GPUs for generative AI workloads.
