Lillian Disney

Lillian Disney (née Bounds) was an American ink artist at the Walt Disney Animation Studios and the wife of Walt Disney, whom she married in 1925. She is best known for suggesting the name Mickey Mouse to her husband during a train trip in 1928, after he proposed the name Mortimer. She also made a landmark $50 million gift in 1987 to build the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles as a memorial to her late husband. She died on December 16, 1997, at the age of 98.
