Floyd Gottfredson

Floyd Gottfredson was an American cartoonist best known for drawing and writing the Mickey Mouse newspaper comic strip for 45 years, from 1930 until his retirement in 1975. He was hired by Walt Disney Productions in 1929 as an apprentice animator and in-betweener before being assigned to the Mickey Mouse daily comic strip, which he continued to produce for decades. His work on the strip introduced numerous characters to the Mickey Mouse universe and appeared in newspapers, magazines, and comic books worldwide. He headed the Disney Comic Strip Department from 1930 to 1946 and was named a Disney Legend in 2003.
