Charles Mintz

Charles Mintz was an American film producer and distributor who led Screen Gems from 1925 to 1939. He married his business partner Margaret J. Winkler in 1924 and assumed control of her company, Winkler Pictures, producing animated cartoon shorts for Columbia Pictures and other studios. He is best known for producing the Krazy Kat and Scrappy cartoon series, as well as his role in the creation of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, which ultimately led to the founding of Walt Disney Productions. He died on December 30, 1939, in Beverly Hills, California.
